Overview
You can use anything in Ubuntu for free from installation to OS update. Aside from the free server operating system, there are tons of other open source programs for you to use for free. For example, if you want to host a website, you may choose either Apache or Nginx. Both are free.
But if you don't have any experience with Linux server, then, you might fear how to install and maintain it. In fact, it is quite straightforward to install Linux, especially Ubuntu Linux. On the other hand, if you are renting a Linux server, what you really need is to install the programs that you need. That will be even straightforward. Best thing about renting a server is that you may activate the backup service and it will save you from disaster recovery.
